THE ROLE OF THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL MEMBERS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMMUNITY OF MUEANG PHRAE MUNICIPALITY, PHRAE PROVINCE

Abstract

This Article aimed to study (1) 1) To study the level of the role of city council
members in the community development of the municipality of Muang Phrae, Phrae
Province (2) to study the relationship between the principle of Aparihāniyadhamma
7 and the role of the city council members in the community development of the
municipality of Muang Phrae, Phrae Province. 3) to study the problems of obstacles and
suggestions of the role of city council members in community development of the
municipality of Muang Phrae, Phrae Province. This research is a Mixed methods research,
including quantitative research using exploratory research methods from the
questionnaire distribution with 390 people. The data were analyzed by frequency,
percentage, mean, and standard deviation and the Pearson correlation coefficient and
qualitative research using in-depth interview with key Informants 17 people, analyze
key informant interviews by using content analysis techniques for context. The research
results were found as follows;
1. The level of role of city council members in the community development
of the municipality of Muang Phrae, Phrae Province, with the overall picture being very
high (x̅ = 3.60).
2. the principle of Aparihāniyadhamma7and the role of city council members
in the community development of the municipality of Prae, Prae, by and large, have a
moderate positive relationship (r = .516**).
3. The obstacle problem was found that some city council members still lack
the know-how about the role of city council members under the City Act, and some
community citizens still do not understand the process and lack participation in
community development activities. Suggestion, it was found that there should be a
training course for the development of city council members to understand their duty
roles and campaign for citizens to participate to express their opinions, and proposals
for the development of their communities.
