Factors affecting English speaking anxiety among 3 rd year students of Mahachulalongkornravavidyalaya University, Chiangmai Campus

Abstract

This article aimed 1) to study factors affecting English speaking anxiety among 3
rd
year students Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University Chiang Mai Campus. 2) to compare
the factors affecting the anxiety of speaking English in the 3
rd year
Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University Chiang Mai Campus. The sample was
quantitative research. The instrument for collecting data was a questionnaire. Analysis
data by (x) and (S.D).
The research results were found as follows; 1) Factors affecting English speaking
anxiety level of 3rd year English language students found that the students had
moderate anxiety if they failed the exam in the English speaking course (x = 3.13) and
(S.D = 0.74) 2) Factors affecting English speaking anxiety level of 3rd year English language
students found that: (1) Examination This factor was caused by several reasons such as Fear
of exams which cause discomfort. (2) Excitement due to lack of preparation requires further
learning. (3) Confidence, lack of confidence from foreseeing, such as thinking that one will
not be able to do it, or from external factors such as fear of the teacher or may be caused
by the environment.
