The Study of Phrarajdharmmalangkan’sRoles in the Education Supporting (Jun Katapuñño)

Abstract

The thesis entitled ‘The Study of Phrarajdharmmalangkan’s Roles in the Education Supporting (Jun Katapuñño)’ consists of three objectives as 1) to study the role of promoting education for the Thai Sangha Council, 2) to investigate the background and educational concept of Venerable Phrarajdhammalangan, and 3) to explore Venerable Phrarajdhammalangan’s role of promoting education.

The results revealed that the promotion of education for the Thai Sangha Council is the cooperation, both direct and indirect, among the Buddhist institutions in developing human resources. It is not only for developing human resources, but also a holistic approach to human life that focuses on mental development. In addition, it also includes the lifestyle of living well in society. The Buddhist Doctrines are applied as the core of Thai Buddhist education that encourages all learners to develop themselves in order to achieve a good life. Man is considered as a rational animal; therefore, the knowledge of man should lead to the benefit of the country.

Regarding the biography and educational background of Venerable Phrarajdhammalangan, he was an industrious man and persisted in education. From past to present, he followed the rules of the Thai Sangha Council and offered sacrifices to Buddhist education.

According to Venerable Phrarajdhammalangan’s role in education supporting, he focuses on the Sangha’s education in various aspects, viz., the Pariyatti-Dhamma, the texts to be studied, and other educational fields that are proper for Buddhist monks and laymen. He realized the educational benefit; therefore, the Lampang Sangha College was founded for the sake of the true understanding of the Buddhist Doctrines.
