THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRITERIA AND TEMPLE ADMINISTRATION SYSTEM IN CHIANG RAIPROVINCE

Abstract

This article has objectives to 1) study the management of temple model
pattern in Chiang Rai, 2) develop criterions and management systems of temples in
Chiang Rai Province, and 3) analyze the temple management and the Buddhist affairs
of the temples in Chiang Rai province. This study is the qualitative research, using
document and interviewing as collecting data tools. The research result was found
that;
1) The management of temple model pattern in Chiang Rai was found in the
systematic form of temple management, the abbot acted as the supreme manager
with the mission to manage the Sangha within the temple to achieve maximum
effectiveness, consisting of accuracy, appropriate, clear, fair, effective and in
accordance with the Dharma discipline and most importantly, must keep up with the
changes in social conditions.
2) The development criterions and management systems of temples in Chiang
Rai Province contained with preliminary information, development conditions,
governing, religious study, propagation, education welfare, public welfare, and the
management system of the temples in Chiang Rai was as follows; management in
governing, as tourist attraction venues, using information technology to publicize the
activities of the temple, providing knowledge on Buddhism or art and culture for the
greatest benefit to the temple and the people (tourist guide) and should have the
person to responsible for the temple's financial management. And
3) analyzing of the temple management and the Buddhist affairs of the
temples in Chiang Rai province was found as follows; governing, education, education
welfare, propagation, public utility and public welfare, etc., in accordance with rules
and regulations of the Sangha Council, etc.
