Factor of Choosing Software Package for Accounting of Accounting Firm in Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province.

Abstract

This research aims to study the factors influencing decision-making in choosing accounting
software packages among accounting firms in Muang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province. The
study also aims to provide guidelines for choosing a suitable software package for students in the
Accounting Department, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna. Questionnaires were used
for data collection with 58 accounting firms in Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai province.
Descriptive statistics consisting of frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation are used for
data analysis. 
The results were as follows: Express, which is used by 28 accounting firms (53.85 per cent)
with a high level of satisfaction, was the most widely used accounting software. The factors
influencing those firms in choosing accounting software package are as follows: functionality of the
software x̅ = 4.16 (SD = 0.07), features of the software x̅ = 4.09 (SD = 0.08), customer support and
after-sales service x̅ = 3.93 (SD = 0.06), cost and expenses related to software package x̅ = 3.62
(SD = 0.03). Besides, it was found that the software package is chosen for accounting students in
the accounting department, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, associated with the
findings. These findings can be used to select other suitable packages for accounting classrooms in
the future.
