THE GUIDELINES OF PREVENTION FOR INMATES RECIDIVISM AT LAMPUN PROVINCIAL PRISON

Abstract

The research were to study the causes of inmates recidivism, to study the management process for changing behavior of recidivism inmates at Lamphun Provincial Prison, and to investigate the prevention guidelines of recidivism inmates at Lamphun Provincial Prison. This research was conducted by using the qualitative research methodology and the data collected by using in-depth interview. The samples consisted of 18 people.

The findings of this research were found as follows:

The recidivism cause of inmates were found that there occurred because of choices in sample occupations, took it easy then make a living by violating the law. The affected or humiliated and leads to avenge the misuse. The community caused of living the environment condition that contributed to the delinquency or acquitted and social acceptance, did not give a chance to work. The lack of ideas to consider the wrong and poverty problem. The management process to change the recidivism behavior was found that Lamphun Provincial Prison implemented the behavior process of recidivism modification by the reformation program of recidivism inmates then successful to some extent but should add planning, management organization, personnel and supervision. The prevention guideline of recidivism inmates at Lamphun Provincial Prison was found that there should implement the policy of Department of Corrections and coordination of external agencies for preparing later the inmates acquitted and returned to social in driven solution, preventing inmates returned to recidivism again.
