A Comparison of Achievement and Attitude towards Science Substance and Properties of Substance for Prathomsuksa VI Student Using Learning Package and Conventional Teaching

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to develop a science learning package for the learning unit of “Substance and Properties of Substance” for Pratomsuksa six students towards the effectiveness criteria of 80/80 and effectiveness index of 0.50, to study comparison the students’ achievement in the learning unit of “Substance and Properties of Substance” using the learning package and using conventional teaching, and to study attitude of students towards learning package science on Substance and Properties Substance. The samples were 72 Prathomsuksa VI students studying in the second semester of academic year 2014 at Chokchai Krabi School. The tools include a learning package on the topic of “Substance and Properties of Substance”, learning achievement tests and self-directed learning ability tests. The learning achievement test item difficulties ranged from 0.50 to 0.80 and the item discrimination ranged from 0.27 to 0.53, the reliability value was 1.00 and the reliability value of the self-directed learning ability tests was 0.95. The data was analyzed by using percent, mean, standard deviation and t-test independent. The findings of the research were that the effectiveness of the science learning package on the topic “Substance and Properties of Substance” were 88.89/86.32 and the effectiveness index was 0.73, the students’ achievement posttest score was significantly higher than the pretest one at 0.05, and the level of students’ scientific attitudes was high.
