ORAL HEALTH RELATED QUALITY OF LIFE AMONG ELDERLY PEOPLE IN KOSAMPHEE NAKORN DISTRICT, KAMPHAENG PHET PROVINCE

Abstract
This research aimed to study the oral health related quality of care and the
factors predicting the oral health related quality of care among elderly people in
Kosamphee Nakorn district, Kamphaeng Phet province. The 418 samples were
interviewed by using questionnaires that includes personal characteristic, clinical oral
health status was collected by oral examination, attitude and Oral impacts on daily
performances index (OIDP) was used to assess the impacts of oral health status on
quality of life. The data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, adjusted odds
ratio (95% CI) and binary logistic regression analysis.
The research results were found as follows; the samples had one impacts on
daily performances (OIDP>0) was 23.7%. The most common performances affected in
eating, smiling and cleansing teeth or dentures were 19.1, 10.8and 10.1%, respectively.
The factors predicting the poor oral health related quality of care were insufficient
income (Adjusted Odds Ratio: AOR= 3.818, 95% CI = 2.185-6.671), moderate stress or
more (AOR= 4.023, 95% CI = 2.205-7.340), having less than 4 posterior occluding pairs
(AOR = 3.014, 95% CI =1.665-5.454), toothache (AOR = 3.628, 95% CI = 1.604-8.203) and
gingivitis (AOR = 2.919, 95% CI =1.622-5.254).
