SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT ACCODING TO IDDHIPAD IV BANWIENG MUNICIPAL DISTRICT, RONGWANG DISTRICT, PHRAE PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of this study were 1) to study solid waste management according to Iddhibāda IV of Banwieng Municipal District, Rongwaung District, Phrae Province, 2) to compare the opinion of people towards solid waste management according to Iddhibāda IV of Banwieng Municipal District, Rongwaung District, Phrae Province by classified personal factors, 3) to study the problems, obstacles and suggestions about solid waste management according to Iddhibāda IV of Banvieng Municipal District, Rongwaung District, Phrae Province, and 4) to study the guidelines for development of solid waste management according to Iddhibāda IV of Banweng Municipal District, Rongwaung District, Phrae Province.

The study was a mixed methods research. Population and sample were 7,420 people. The samples were 380 people by using the formula of Taro Yamane. The data were collected by using questionnaire and analyzed by using computer program in social sciences research for finding frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation to describe general information. To test the hypothesis by t-test and F-test with One Way ANOVA, when differences were found, then the differences were tested by the Least Significant Difference. In the part of open-ended questions showing the problems, obstacles, and suggestions, the researcher arranged the group according to the issues of the open-ended questions. Then, the data were analyzed by frequency. For the data from interviews, the researcher gathered data on the essence of the interviews and then analyzed the data by content analysis.

The results of the study were as follows:

   Level of opinion of people on the solid waste management according to Iddhibāda IV of Banwieng Municipal District, Rongwaung District, Phrae Province was found that people had the opinion level towards solid waste management according to Iddhibāda IV of Banwieng Municipal District, Rongwaung District, Phrae Province overall was at the moderate level (x = 3.44, S.D. = 0.51).

   Comparison of solid waste management according to Iddhibāda IV of Banwieng Municipal District, Rongwaung District, Phrae Province by base hypothesis and analysis classification personal factors: sex, age, incomes, education, and occupation was found that the people who had different sex, incomes, education, and occupation had no different opinions. Therefore, the hypothesis was rejected.

   Results of the study on problems, obstacles, and suggestions regarding the solid waste management according to Iddhibāda IV of Banwieng Municipal District, Rongwaung District, Phrae Province were found that some people did not throw away the solid waste in the bins, and there were some people who did not bring the solid waste to recycle again. They should promote people to throw away the solid waste in the bins every time, and there were not enough officers for taking care of the community.

   The guidelines for development of solid waste management according to Iddhibāda IV of Banwieng Municipal District, Rongwaung District, Phrae Province found that the municipal officials were satisfied and loved to tackle solid waste problems, especially the need to reduce waste overflowing from bins and the problem of overflowing garbage at the municipal waste disposal site. They should raise awareness among the people about sorting household waste before disposing of it. Waste that can be recycled or sold should be sorted and sold to generate income for the family. The staff were attentive and very responsible for their work because they wanted to make the town livable and the residents healthy under the concept of a livable town, with the Mayor of Banwieng promoting a way of life based on sufficiency.
