MODEL AND PROCESS FOR THE BUDDHIST METHOD FOR ESTABLISHING LASTING HEALTH FOR PEOPLE INCARCERATED IN DOI HANG TEMPORARY PRISON, CHIANG RAI

Abstract

This material has objectives to 1) study the sustainable health care model and
process according to Buddhist way of inmates in Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai
province, 2) create a knowledge set on sustainable health management according to the
Buddhist way of Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai province and 3) to analyze the
knowledge set and the sustainable health management system according to the Buddhist
way of Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai province. This is the qualitative research and
using document and interviewing as tools to collect data. The research result is as follows:
1) the sustainable health care model and process according to Buddhist way
of inmates in Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai province was found that: the essential
and important basis that affects health during detention were food and nutrition, hygiene
and sanitation, shelter, disease prevention health promotion and treatment. However, in
assessing the health status of detainees may require a deeper assessment of these
fundamental issues. The social mental health factor was not so obvious or even
invisible issue, but might influence so much on health, like social mental health
when arrested or imprisoned, lack of social support, influence within the prison,
violence and sexual violence, drug use, daily life in prison, bail and promiscuity.
2) Creation a knowledge set on sustainable health management according to
the Buddhist way of Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai province was found that: the
preparation of books or textbooks on sustainable health care according to the
Buddhist way was divided into 2 diseases, doctor or nurse taking care of physical
health disease, monks or psychologists were lecturers or preachers for mental
sickness.
3) Analyzing the knowledge set and the sustainable health management
system according to the Buddhist way of Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai province,
the created knowledge set could be applied to sustainable health management
according to the Buddhist way with health care experts, monks and psychologists
giving advice and followed the rules.
