The participation of the Italy Embassy in the development of Thailand according to the policy of Thailand 4.0. Case study chiang mai province

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the participation role of the Embassy of Italy in Chiang Mai to support the policy of Thailand 4.0.  It was a qualitative study by studying documents and collecting data from the Embassy's staff in Chiang Mai Office who were involving in international relationship. The content analysis was used in analyzing data. 

The study was found that the policy of Thailand 4.0 is concerning the internal matter related to the strategic development plan of Thailand. The Embassy of Italy has no role in terms of the processes of decision making and the policy implementation. From the aspects of the international relationship and with considering that policy, the Office of the Embassy of Italy in Chiang Mai can be able to support government sector on the issue of innovation for driving Thailand economy at national and local levels as well as the private sector. For the issues of tourism, it can be. the supporting of information disseminating and legal facilitating. For the issue of educational development as Italy has not been the destination country for education yet the participation in this area is still at the minimal. For culture and sport development, it was found that cultural and sport exchanging is in the process of the developing stage. For the development in export, Thailand has potential in proving raw materials for food, it should look for increasing an opportunity on trade and investment with Italy especially importing an agricultural technology from Italy.
