DEVELOPING A BUDDHIST SYLLABUS FOR KNOWLEDGE OF PERMANENT OCCUPATIONS FOR PRISONERS IN DOI HANG TEMPORARY PRISON IN CHIANG RAI

Abstract

The article has objective to 1) study the learning management for career
development of the inmates of Doi Hang Temporary Prison in Chiang Rai province, 2)
develop a curriculum for sustainable vocational learning according to Buddhist of inmates
at Doi Hang Temporary Prison in Chiang Rai province and 3) to apply the curriculum to the
sustainable vocational learning according to Buddhist in order to enhance careers of
inmates in Doi Hang Temporary Prison in Chiang Rai province. This is the qualitative
research and data was collected through document and interviewing. The result of the
research found that:

1) the learning management for career development of the inmates of Doi Hang
Temporary Prison in Chiang Rai province that giving opportunity for lifelong learning
through vocational courses as follows; agriculture, carpentry, construction worker,
welding and coffee brewing.
2) Developing of a curriculum for sustainable vocational learning according to
Buddhist of inmates at Doi Hang Temporary Prison in Chiang Rai province consisted of
providing basic education such as illiterate level and primary-high school level.
professional education and higher education management. And
3) Application of the curriculum to the sustainable vocational learning
according to Buddhist in order to enhance careers of inmates in Doi Hang Temporary Prison
in Chiang Rai province through the following projects: Doi Hang Agricultural Learning
Center and Tourism, Project of encouragement by the Royal Initiative Princess
Patcharakitiyapha (Doi Hang Temporary Prison) with skills of self-reliant, not
recurrence of committed crime. At present, Doi Hang Temporary Prison is a learning
center for sufficiency economy and open for systematically visit the sustainable
service of management.
