Characteristic of an English language teacher according to Buddhist principle in the 21st century

Abstract

First of all, this article aims to present the characteristics of an English language 
teachers according to Buddhism in the 21st century. As a result of study found that  
1. Buddhist teachers have to apply Dhamma principles to communicate with students. 
Besides there are in the principles of good conduct in living life that in order to be a 
good example for students. 2. Teachers in the 21st century should have the following 
characteristics: being proficient in the content taught, have skills in using a new 
technology to be integrated into organizing learning activities, also emphasis on 
learners being the center of teaching and learning. 3. An English language teacher 
according to Buddhism in the 21st century should have the characteristics of adopting 
the characteristics of teachers in Buddhism and the 21st century to serve as good role 
models, teaching to students. Secondly, in association English language learning 
activities, the European Framework of Reference for Language Proficiency (CEFR) 
should be taken into account by adapting the focus of an English language learning 
according to the nature of learning. Thirdly, there are focusing mainly on 
communication organize learning activities starting with teaching listening, followed by 
speaking, reading and writing, with grammar taught in every skill, more than that have 
space to practice English language skills. Lastly, there are for these students to be 
aware of their own development. So, teachers can improve teaching methods or 
provide feedback to learners by instilling a love of learning and confidence in 
communicating in English.
