The beliefs of Isan’s the shrine of the ancestor

Abstract

The objective of this article is to present the concept of beliefs about Isan’s
the shrine of the ancestor which is the fundamental belief of people in community. It
is belief in the preservation and protection from the spirits of the ancestors. It can be
seen form the rituals of worshiping ancestors or raising spirits of the ancestors that
are performed every year to indicate attachment of the villagers to the ancestors.
There is a place to perform which is called “Shrine of the ancestor”. There are many
values that arise from beliefs such as occupational confidence, to make a cheerful
mind, to build unity in the community, to express gratitude, etc. So, the beliefs of
shrine of the ancestor has become a tradition from the past to the present.
