Abstract

Research paper concerning the direction to develop temples according to the standards
set down by the National Office of Buddhism in Chiang Rai province. The objectives are as follows.
1. To study the development of temples according to the standards set down by the National
Office of Buddhism. 2. To develop temples according to the standards set down by the National
Office of Buddhism in Chiang Rai province. 3. To establish a body of knowledge for temples
according to the standards set down by the National Office of Buddhism and apply it as a model
for temples in the Central District of Chiang Rai province. The paper uses Qualitative Research
including documentary information and field work. The documentary aspect involves collecting
information from documents and relevant research. The field work collects information through 
questionnaires, conversations, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. The research results
show a handbook to develop temples according to the standards set down by the National Office
of Buddhism in Chiang Rai province, consisting of 1. Administration 2. Religious study 3.
Dissemination 4. Public assistance 5. Study assistance 6. General assistance, and finally a network
to help with knowledge and to support various activities connected with Buddhism.
