WELFARE FOR THE DISABLED BY APPLYING THE PRINCIPLES OF BRAHMAWIHAN DHARMA OF MAKHAM LUANG SUBDISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION. SAN PA TONG DISTRICT CHIANG MAI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to 1. To study the level of opinions on the provision of 
welfare for people with disabilities. 2. To compare opinions of people with disabilitiestowards the provision of welfare for people with disabilities. 3. To propose guidelines 
for applying Buddhist principles to promote the welfare of persons with disabilities. By 
applying the principles of Brahmawiharn Dhamma of Makham Luang Subdistrict 
Administrative Organization San Pa Tong District Chiang Mai Province Conducting 
combined method research It is a quantitative research. which collects data using 
questionnaires with a confidence value of 0.890 for the entire issue. The sample 
population consisted of all types of persons with disabilities who had a handicapped 
card and their caregivers whose names were on the back of the handicapped card. Of 
Makham Luang Sub-District Administrative Organization. 294 people were formulated 
by Taro Yamane. The research tools were questionnaires. Statistics used for data 
analysis were percentage. mean. standard deviation. and Paired – Sample T-Test and 
F-Test. Quality by in-depth interviews with 10 key informants or people. Data were 
analyzed by descriptive content analysis. 

The results showed that 

1. The level of welfare provision for persons with disabilities by applying the 
principles of Brahmawiharn Dharma of Makham Luang Subdistrict Administrative Organ
ization. San Pa Tong District Chiang Mai Province. it was found that the overall Brahma 
Viharn Dharma aspect was at a moderate level (x ̅ = 2.83. S.D. = 0.91). On the side of 
Mutita at the lowest level As for the level of disability welfare as a whole. it was at a 
moderate level (x ̅ = 3.25. S.D. = 1.02). at a high level protection and protection of 
social rights Society and community acceptance education respectively As for the 
economy. occupation. work. income is at the lowest level.

2. The comparison of opinions of persons with disabilities towards the provision 
of welfare for persons with disabilities of Makham Luang Subdistrict Administrative Or
ganization. San Pa Tong District Chiang Mai Province Classified by personal factors. it 
was found that people with disabilities of different genders had no different opinions 
on welfare provision at the statistical significance level of 0.05. Therefore. the research hypothesis was not accepted. and people with disabilities with age and level of edu
cation income and occupation are different. There are opinions on the welfare of the 
disabled. of Makham Luang Sub-district Administrative Organization are different. so 
the research hypothesis is accepted. 

3. Guidelines for applying Buddhist principles to promote the welfare of the 
disabled By applying the principles of Brahma Viharn Dharma in the areas of kindness. 
Karuna. Mutita. Upekkha of the Makham Luang Subdistrict Administrative Organization. 
San Pa Tong District Chiang Mai Province. namely: 1) the life security of the disabled 
should be promoted and caregivers of the disabled to be able to access and use 
various services to facilitate their own disability context. such as being able to use 
outdoor exercise equipment in public parks. with other people as well as the use of 
public transport. as well as receiving training according to the potential of each indi
vidual Including the study of new technologies in order to maximize the benefit of the 
disabled and the person who takes care of them. 3) In terms of economy. occupation. 
work. income. people with disabilities should be encouraged to rehabilitate and pro
mote their original occupations. 4) social welfare provision and acceptance in the com
munity Disabled people of all types should be able to access the information of the
