A study of History and Buddhist Art of the image of Buddha is important in Kamphaeng Phet province

Abstract

The research of “A Study on History and Buddhist Art of Important Buddha Images in Kamphaeng Phet Province” is a qualitative research, aimed to study on history and Buddhist art of important Buddha images in Kamphaeng Phet province, study on guidelines to develop temples, are enshrined important Buddha images, to be the religious and cultural leaning places in Kamphaeng Phet province, and analyze on socio-cultural value and importance of important Buddha images in Kamphaeng Phet province.

From the study, had found 39 Buddha images, has historic importance and Buddhist artistic importance, in temples and other places, in Amphoe Mueang Kamphaeng Phet, Amphoe Khanu Woralaksaburi, Amphoe Khlong Khlung, Amphoe Phran Kratai, Amphoe Lan Krabue, Amphoe Sai Thong Watthana, Amphoe Bueng Samakkhi, Amphoe Kosamphi Nakhon and Amphoe Sai Ngam. Buddha images that found, has origin and style since Sukhothai, Uthong, Ayuthaya, Lan Na, Rattanakosin, to current period, there are all famous and sacred for the local Buddhists.

Moreover, the study on develop guidelines for temples, are enshrined important Buddha images, to be religious and cultural learning place in Kamphaeng Phet province, had found that, in the development process are needed to get support from the government sector, the people and the private sector, especially temples and local governments, who has directed responsibility to develop the temple and the local to be the important learning places and most useful for learners. Additionally, the process of administration must be systematic, since the planning stages, implementation stages such as the construction and development, the monitoring stages, and the summarize-report results stages of the development.

Finally, the analysis about value and socio-cultural importance of important Buddha images that impacted to the way of life of Buddhists in Kamphaeng Phet province, could divided into two parts: the value and the importance to belief of Buddhists in Kamphaeng Phet province, and the value and the importance to tradition and worship of Buddhists in Kamphaeng Phet province. For the purpose that, important Buddha images are in the part of context of social and culture of the local, which shows socio-cultural outstanding and valuable of important Buddha images to the way of life of Buddhists in Kamphaeng Phet province.
