Search and Ancient Document Conservation of Wat Li Luang, Li District, Lamphun Province for Building Learning Center

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to preserve the ancient documents such as Palm leaves Bible, Mulberry paper that was sustainable at Wat Li Luang, Li district, Lamphun province by cleaning, registration documents and maintaining properly in cooperating of community, 2) to learn and convey the method and procedure in cleaning ancient documents, the registration documents, photographing and maintaining properly from the expert, and 3) to establish the ancient documents learning center within Wat Li Luang in order to people in the area have learned, conserved, inherited wisdom for the future. This research used qualitative research methods and this study was a workshop that focused on the community participation.

The findings of this research as follows:

The findings revealed that there was to conduct the ancient documents of academic by cleaning and 1897 copies of registration document and 2 books of mulberry paper. There was to keep properly of 7 boxes at Dhamma Hall or Tipitaka Hall that had conveyed how to maintain to community correctly by preparing manual or handbook how to keep document and creating leaders for teaching to community. This had made the faith community of the organizing importance, consciousness to treasure, helping together in maintaining cultural heritage of their own community, published knowledge from the training and taking knowledge to good use until they can be conveyed to the next generations. So as to establish the ancient document learning center of Wat Li Luang there were organized various formats namely; studying Lanna alphabets, Dhamma writing, Takdhamma etc. that was the beginning of ancient documents conservation for learning and conveying to participate in community and those interested.
