ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL CLASS IN A HOLLYWOOD FILM “SNOWPIERCER (2013)”

Abstract

According to the research, there are six elements of social class in this 
Hollywood film. The first component was housing, e.g., it could be seen that the 
housing of those at the end of the train were cramped and lived in a combination, 
etc. The second component was wealth, i.e. those who were poor would be at the 
end of the train. As for people of medium status, they would be in the middle of the 
procession, and wealthy people at the end of the train, etc. The third element was 
class, for example, those at the rear of some of the trains were working class. The 
person in the middle of the procession would be the working class. The head of the 
procession was the ruling class.  

The fourth element was ethnicity. In the carriage of the train, there would 
be people of various nationalities boarding this train. The fifth element was 
convenience, for example, the people at the end of the procession must find their 
own things to use for their own convenience. As for the people at the head of the 
train, there would be amenities such as utensils, toilets, bedrooms, etc. The sixth 
element was food, for example, the people at the end of the train would only be 
able to eat protein bars made from cockroaches. The head of the procession would 
be able to eat various luxurious foods, etc.
