BUDDHIST TEACHINGS IN THE TRADITION BATHING THE BUDDHA PHRA THAT DOI MUANG KHAM KLUAY PHAE SUBDISTRICT. MAE THA DISTRICT. LAMPANG PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to study the context of Phra That Doi Muang Kham communities to 
study the beliefs and influences of Phra That Doi Muang Kham on the communities to analyze 
morals that appeared in the Bathing tradition to Phra That Doi Muang Kham. This is a qualitative 
research and in-depth interviews with the 15 key informants. The research results are as the 
followings: 1) The communities sutounded Wat Phra That Doi Muang Kham. Kluay Phae Sub
district.  . The majority of these people are descented from the Tai Lue ethnic group. 2) Wat Phra 
That Muang Kham is a sacred place with the belieft that the Buddha's relics and the eight  Hair-relics are enshrined inside of Pagoda. That causes the people in the communities of Wat Phra 
That Doi Muang Kham and the nearby communities come to make merit in the yearly bathing 
tradtion to Phra That Doi Muang Kham falling on the 8th waning moon of the 7th lunar month. 3) 
The morale that appeared in the bathing tradition to Phra That Muang Kham can be divided into 
the various dimensions such as:  (1) On the religious and cultural. (2) On the cooperation and 
unity. (3) On the gratitude to their parents. (4) On the inheriting the identity of the Tai Lue Ethnic 
group.
