MANAGEMENT OF CULTURAL RESOURCES IN THE AREA OF LANNA LANTERNS BY THE RESIDENTS OF HUAI SAK DISTRICT, CHIANG RAI CITY, CHIANG RAI.

Abstract

This material has objectives to 1. study the cultural resource management of
Lanna lanterns of Huai Sak sub-district communities, Muang district, Chiang Rai province, 2.

develop cultural resource management for Lanna lanterns Community in Huai Sak sub-
district, Muang district, Chiang Rai Province and 3. to strengthen the Lanna lantern cultural

resource management network of the community in Chiang Rai. This is the qualitative
research, the tools to collect data were document and interviewing and the research result
was found that;

1 ) the cultural resource management of Lanna lanterns of Huai Sak sub-
district communities, Muang district, Chiang Rai province, Huai Sak sub-district
community gave knowledge about the wisdom of Lanna lantern production,
including adjusting, improving, modifying, inventing and adapting the production of
ancient and new Lanna lanterns mixing harmoniously in terms of patterns, shapes
and materials used in the production of Lanna lanterns to be used for worshiping the
Lord Buddha during the Yi Peng tradition.
2 ) The development of cultural resource management for Lanna lanterns
Community in Huai Sak sub-district, Muang district, Chiang Rai Province, Huai Sak sub-district
community developed the production of Lanna lamps into 8 types of designs as follows:
1) octagon, 2) lamp, 3) star, 4) rabbit ear, 5) Ti, 6) lotus, 7) fan and 8) animal with the
development of designs in many different styles and still developed lanterns to be used
for various ceremonies continuously, also applied to decorate the building to create a
beautiful Lanna atmosphere. And
3) strengthening the Lanna lantern cultural resource management network of
the community in Chiang Rai, Huai Sak sub-district community relied on participation of
temples, houses, schools, communities, government offices, and local authorities to play
the role in preserving and inheriting the wisdom of Lanna lantern production in decision-
making, the process in involving in the operation, the process of participating in benefits
and the process of participating in the evaluation, etc.
