A POLITICAL PARTICIPATION OF PEOPLE IN PHRAE PROVICIAL ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION ELECTION IN DENCHAI SUB-DISTRICT MANUNIPALITY,

Abstract

This study was conducted with its main following objectives: 1) to investigate
the level of public political participation in the election of members of Phrae
Provincial Administrative Organization in Den Chai Subdistrict Municipality, Denchai
District, Phrae Province, 2 ) to study the relationship between Aparihãniyadhamma
and the election of members of Phrae Provincial Administrative Organization in Den
Chai Subdistrict Municipality, and 3 ) to study problems, guidelines, and suggestions
relating to public political participation in the election of Phrae Provincial
Administrative Organization members in Den Chai Subdistrict Municipality. Applying
mixed-methods research, this study was conducted in order to collect and analyze
both quantitative and qualitative data. The questionnaires were distributed to gather
quantitative data from of 372 participants while in-depth interview was conducted to
collect qualitative data from 9 key informants. The findings revealed as follows.
1) The overview of political participation level of people in the election of
Phrae Provincial Administrative Organization members in Den Chai municipality was at
high level ( = 3.52, SD = 0. 72).

2) The relationship between the principle of Aparihãniyadhamma and the
election of members of the Phrae Provincial Administrative Organization in Den Chai
Municipality was considered positive and it was at moderate level (R = .498**).
3) In terms of problems and obstacles, it was found that people still
lacked of participation in conference, including giving opinion on the election of
members of Phrae Provincial Administrative Organization. Therefore, people’s
representatives should be appointed in order to be the committees who take
responsible for following up and inspecting election. Furthermore, the election center
of Phrae Provincial Administrative Organization should be founded to deal with the
problems relating to election.
