The Community Development according to Buddhism

Abstract

This academic article aims to propose community development principles
according to Buddhist guidelines which has its development principles strategy to
characterize the humanity rather than the desire for material possessions. It emphasize
on unity by the principle of participation, and is not about succour but deliverance and
liberation. According to the Buddhist theory, the term “development” is synonymous
with the word “Bhāvanā,” which means the virtue to promote the goodness in the
mind, the will to make the good determination, to make it be, arise, and fully develop.
Buddhism states the principles of development that they must be cultivated in the
four dimension: body, morality, the mind, and wisdom, and these development
process depends on planning and goal setting in order to make changes in a good way
without negative consequence, and it also can be able to create the values in physical,
mental, social and intellectual as well. Additionally, the development process in the
Buddhist way can make a change, improvement, and maintain goodness, and it
provides confidence and self-help in sustainable development forever.
