THE CONCEPT ANALYSIS OF CREATION OF WAT RONG KHUN CONSTRUCTION ACCORDING TO THE PRINCIPLES OF COSMOLOGY IN BUDDHISM

Abstract

This study entitled “the concept analysis of Wat Rong Khun construction according to 
cosmology in Buddhism” has the objectives of research as follows: to study the principles of 
cosmology in Buddhism. to study the history and ideas of Wat Rong Khun construction. and to 
analyze the concept of Wat Rong Khun construction according to the principles of cosmology in 
Buddhism. This research is a qualitative research methodology by studying the documents about 
the principles of cosmology in Buddhism. history and ideas for constructing Wat Rong Khun and 
in-depth interviews. The result of the research shows that the concept of constructing Wat Rong 
Khun of Ajarn Chalermchai Kositpipat that arose from 3 important inspirations. namely. the nation. 
the religion. and the king. The concept of Wat Rong Khun construction is still in accordance with 
the principles of cosmology in Buddhism. especially. in the matter of 31 life planes (31 Bhümi) which was the birthplace and place of all beings in the world. It consists of 4 Arüpabhümi 
(Formless Planes). 16 Rüpabhümi (Form Planes). 6 Devabhümi (Goddess). 1 Manussayabhümi 
(Human being) 4 Apãyabhümi (Loss and Woe Planes). In addition to following the principles of 
cosmology in Buddhism. Wat Rong Khun construction is still included the Buddhism principles in 
the Buddhist art as well.
