REINFORCING THE CONFIDENCE IN LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY OF PRISONERS WHO HAVE BEEN RELEASED FROM DOI HANG TEMPORARY PRISON IN CHIANG RAI.

Abstract

This study has objectives to 1) study behavior and social learning of inmates
in Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai, 2) strengthen confidence in coexistence with
society upon release of prisoners in Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai and 3 ) to
apply Buddhist principles in enhancing confidence in coexistence with society after
being released from Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai. This is the qualitative
research; data was collected through tools called document and interviewing. The
research result was found that:

1) behavior and social learning of inmates in Doi Hang Temporary Prison
Chiang Rai: behavior of inmates who live together in the prison was in order according
to the prison’s rules which were divided into classes as follows: excellent, very good,
good, fair, bad and very bad.
2) Strengthening confidence in coexistence with society upon release of
prisoners in Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai found that career and good
attitude preparation for acquitted before leaving the prison and have guidelines
to assist in supervising to have honest work to do. Due to the some newly
released prisoners were unable to find a way to continue lives in outside
societies. Therefore, there must be an agency taking care for finding suitable jobs
for those who were acquitted in the first place, then the acquitted would find
ways to live better in the future without returning to commit bruising. And
3) Application of Buddhist principles in enhancing confidence in coexistence
with society after being released from Doi Hang Temporary Prison Chiang Rai found
that Buddha Dharma was applied when acquitted of prison, consisted of: The
relationship of greed, anger, delusion with ourselves, Hiri Ottappa(shame of sins),
Khan 5(five groups of personality), Sati Sampachanya (consciousness),
Samuhathai(cause), Ayatana 6 (sense doors) and InsySangworn(faculty).
