The Participation of People towards Work Development in accordance with Saṅgahavatthu IV of Maekham Sub-District Municipality Maejan District, Chiangrai Province

Abstract

The objectives of this study were: 1) to study the level of the participation of people towards work development in accordance with Saṅgahavatthu IV of Maekham Sub-District Municipality, Maejan District, Chiangrai Province; 2) to compare the opinion of the participation of people towards work development in accordance with Saṅgahavatthu IV of Maekham Sub-District Municipality, Maejan District, Chiangrai Province; 3) to study the problem, obstacle, and the suggestion in the participation of people towards work development in accordance with Saṅgahavatthu IV of Maekham Sub-District Municipality, Maejan District, Chiangrai Province; and 4) to study the development guidelines for the participation of people towards work development in accordance with Saṅgahavatthu IV of Maekham Sub-District Municipality, Maejan District, Chiangrai Province.

The study was Mixed Methods Research. The population were 4,821 people who lived in Maekham Sub-District Municipality, Maejan District, Chiangrai Province, by using stratified sampling hypothesis of Taro Yamane, 369 people. The data were collected by questionnaire and the data analysis was done with Social Science SPSS. The statistics were used values of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, hypothesis test with t-test, F-test, one way ANOVA. In the part of opened and close questionnaire to show the problem, obstacle, and suggestion, the researcher was arranged the group according to issue of open-end. Then, they were analyzed by frequency and in-depth-interview collecting data from 7 key informants, the researcher will gather data on the essence of the in-depth-interview and then by content analyzed technique by descriptive interpretation.

The results of the research were found as follows;

   The level of the participation of people towards work development in accordance with Saṅgahavatthu IV of Maekham Sub-District Municipality, Maejan District, Chiangrai Province was found that the participation of people towards work development in accordance with Saṅgahavatthu IV of Maekham Sub-District Municipality, Maejan District, Chiangrai Province, the overall was at the medium level (x = 2.94, S.D. = 0.522).

   The comparison of the level of the participation of people towards work development in accordance with Saṅgahavatthu IV of Maekham Sub-District Municipality, Maejan District, Chiangrai Province was hypothesis tested by analyzing in aspects of individual factors consisting of gender, age, educational background, and monthly income. It was found that no significant different, thus rejected the set hypotheses. While difference occupation, which was accepted the hypothesis.

   The problem, obstacle, and the suggestion for the participation of people towards work development in accordance with Saṅgahavatthu IV of Maekham Sub-District Municipality, Maejan District, Chiangrai Province were found that people did not cooperate with municipality to solve the problems. It should raise awareness among people about local development with municipality because they could not understand each other, thus they did not cooperate. There should be training to provide knowledge for people who do not understand the issues. They understood that it was the duty of the municipality, which must be sacrificed to work with honesty for the benefit of the local community. There should be training on the principle of public participation in democracy. They had no public participation in the monitoring and evaluation of the work of municipality. The municipality should give the public an opportunity to participate in solving their requirements correctly, thoroughly, and fairly.

   The development guidelines for the participation of people towards work development in accordance with Saṅgahavatthu IV of Maekham Sub-District Municipality, Maejan District, Chiangrai Province were found that most informants emphasized enhancing knowledge, sacrificing in the participation of people, and raising awareness among people about local development for community empowerment. The municipality should assemble crowds to participate in sorting the importance of problems, needs, and suggestions, and conduct referendums at the group level for a common approach to solving the needs of people with the municipality correctly according to public demand.
