ANALYSIS OF THE FORMAT FOR HOLDING FUNERALS FREE FROM NEGATIVE INFLUENCES TO ESTABLISHING CULTURAL VALUES OF TEMPLES AND THE COMMUNITY IN CHIANG RAI.

Abstract

This paper has objectives to 1) study the funeral arrangements of
temples and communities in Chiang Rai Province, 2) problems and obstacles in
arranging funeral without vices(mischief) of temples and communities in Chiang Rai
Province and 3) to create model for organizing funerals without vices(mischief) of
temples and communities in Chiang Rai. This is the qualitative research and used
document and interviewing as tools to collect data. The result of the research was
found that;

1) The funeral arrangements of temples and communities in Chiang Rai
Province was found that; temples and communities in Chiang Rai have promoted and
supported the free vices(mischief) funeral as activity to reduce alcohol consumption
and refrain of all kinds of gambling by using the concept of social support to
encourage people to reduce alcohol consumption and the cost of funeral
arrangements as well.

2) Problems and obstacles in arranging funeral without vices(mischief) of
temples and communities in Chiang Rai Province were from belief and past
misbehaved and the unmotivated management process together with the ignorant of
the responsible persons not taking it as serious as it should be. Due to the changing

of concept, behavior and social belief as the major problem and obstacle because of
habitual that led to difficulty in arranging effectively free vices(mischief) funeral, but if
the government agencies were involved with the temples which were places to
support the funeral without vices(mischief) directly across the country.

3) Model creation to organize funerals without vices(mischief) of
temples and communities in Chiang Rai were as follows; organizing the free from
vices(mischief) in community, welfare supporting to free vices(mischief) funeral and
creation of alcohol quitting model.
