AN ANALYSIS OF BUDDHAMMA IN THE SILPHADHARMA OF KAMIN LERTCHAIPRASERT

Abstract

This research has 3 objectives: 1) to study Kamin Lertchaiprasert's personal background to figure out how it influences his position/perspective on arts and Buddhism; 2) to study his techniques used for propagating the Buddhadhamma through the art; and 3) to decode the Buddhadhamma in each piece of his Silpadhamma works in 11 exhibitions held in Thailand and aboard. Apart from the analysis of his works. the study also includes the survey of audience's opinions and (in-depth) interviews with National Artists. well-known Buddhism scholars. art scholars and students. The result of the research shows that Kamin Lertchaiprasert's Silpadhamma is found simple. accessible and comprehensible. General audience are able to understand Bhuddadhama through his Silpadhamma / art.
