Abstract

This study aims to illuminate the role of Kruba Srivichai from a Western


perspective through the review of related literature. Known for his spiritual leadership


and community and societal development, Kruba Srivichai is widely revered, appearing 


in Thai cultural stories and history. However, from a Western viewpoint, his work is


presented in a light that harmonizes spirituality, cultural conservation, and social


movements. This article reveals how Western scholars interpret Kruba Srivichai's role


and contributions, emphasizing the differences in cultural perceptions and the


complexity of interpreting a local spiritual figure through a Western lens. The study


seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of Kruba Srivichai's lasting influence on


Thai society, highlighting his impact on Thai Buddhism and his enduring significance in


the context of religious and social movements.
